THE PIERS ISLAND FERRY SHUTTLE

The Piers Island Ferry Co-op contracts our company to provide regular ferry services to Piers Island, a private island of over 100 households located near Swartz Bay. Co-op members pay a monthly fee for unlimited ridership and other benefits. Currently, a schedule of seven weekly round-trip sailings is maintained with the support of members. More sailings may be added as the membership grows.

Annually, the ferry carries over 2,200 passengers on 300 or more sailings. Water taxis and light cargo runs carry an additional 1,500 passengers and literally tons of luggage, groceries, furniture, appliances, building materials, etc. each year. Recently the company celebrated the boarding of the 10,000th passenger, as well as a decade of excellent safety and performance. Over these years, the passengers have experienced only a handful of delays due to wind and fog, and no cancellations due to mechanical or operator problems.

All sailings are available to all Islanders, their visiting friends, relatives and workers as walk-on passengers. Reservations are not required. Since Piers is a private island, all passengers must be affiliated with an island resident.

Co-op members receive added benefits including 10 to 20% discounts on guest ferry passenger tickets, dock dropoffs, water taxis, cargo runs & other services.

FERRY SAILINGS

FARES: One Way (including tax)    $12 per adult  --   $6 per child 6-12yr 
             Additonal $12 per party for private dock dropoff or pickup   Cash or cheque accepted

WATER TAXI & CARGO RUNS

Water taxis and cargo hauling are available to all Piers Island docks from Swartz Gov't Dock and Canoe Cove Marina.

One of our vessels with a roster of skippers is largely dedicated to serve Piers Island, on standby, 24 hours a day and 364 days of the year. 

The 2011 cost (including tax) is:

$55 for 1-12 passangers    $70 after dark.

$76 for bulky or heavy cargo such as appliances, furniture, building materials, etc.
(Includes 15 minutes loading and 15 minutes unloading; with an additional charge of $1 per minute of extra wait time.)

Advance notice is appreciated for bookings. In emergencies, our response time is one hour or less. Cash or cheque accepted.
